Welcome to the Wine Charlatan. This is the first post.

Why a Wine Blog?
I’m a newly minted wine nerd and I currently live not too far from an amazing wine growing region, the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. This has exasperated my nerdiness lately. I’ve long been a lover of red wine but a wine tasting tour to Mission Hill Winery in Kelowna, BC triggered something. Something deeper than just enjoying good, or even decent wine. The growing of the grapes, which grapes are suited to particular regions, soils, climates, slopes, sun exposures, etc. How the wines are made. How they age. All kinds of stuff. Fascinating. I want to know more.
Besides this sudden nerdom for wine I’m also a full blown internet nerd (web designer and internet marketer by trade) so I decided I should start a wine blog. Blogging my thoughts and experience on wine should, I presume, make me a more knowledgeable wine drinker.
What to Write About and Why?
I’m not entirely sure where this will go. I’m just gonna wing it. See what happens. Maybe I’ll gain and grow an audience, then again maybe not. No matter.
I’ll be writing a lot about red wines, very little about whites. I know what I like and it’s the big bold reds. The big Cab Sav’s, plummy Cab Franc’s, smooth Merlot’s, spicy Shyrah/Shiraz, inky Malbec and Carmenere and above all, the big Bordeaux style blends with huge mouthfuls of chewy tannins. Yum!
I’m sure I’ll venture out to other styles of wine from time to time, perhaps more so as time goes on. We’ll see.
So here’s to being/becoming a true charlatan and perhaps in time maybe some sort of real expertise. Cheers.
